We planned our trip with high expectations and we were not disappointed. We arrived late and there was a very detailed note on the door with instructions on how to navigate our way through the inn to our room. When we got to our room we were impressed with how large and well decorated it was. We left for a drink and when we returned Diane was up and greeted us. She was great to speak with and very entertaining we spoke of interesting things to do in the area and she made great recommendations.We told her that we had early morning plans so she started breakfast early so that we could eat before we set out for the day.The food was AMAZING! She is an excellent cook and the service is top notch.The choices of food are unbelievable fresh and delicious. All fresh and high quality ingredients.Upon returning from a busy day out we were a little chilled and Diane made us hot lemon water with honey and ginger. What a TREAT!! We Spoke with Diane and Vernon they have led very interesting lives could talk with them for hours. They have put their hearts and souls into welcoming people into their home. We spent time in the Berkshires last year but our stay was much more enjoyable this year due to our stay here.Breakfast is served at large table where we met other great guests. I understand why people return here as far as we are concerned this will be our only choice for our Berkshire stays.The inn is close to everything.

Pretty inn, however the bed was so hard we could barely sleep. The owner was also so unbelievably rude and inhospitable. She acted personally offended by our request to make our stay more comfortable. Considering the price, asking for something to put on top of the bed to make sure we could sleep did not seem unreasonable. She even continued to lecture us as we left. We will not be staying again.
The Stockbridge Country Inn was everything we hoped it would be: a cozy old house in the country beautifully decorated with antiques, a comfy bed, a delicious three-course breakfast the next morning, and a gracious hostess. The inn is perfectly situated just a short drive away from both the Norman Rockwell Museum and downtown Stockbridge. My only regret is that we stayed one night instead of two or three!
